Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Why can't I register without a consultation appointment?
We need to know who our customers are before we can work with them. During a consultation appointment, we will ask you a few questions about how and what you would like to use our service for, so that we can better assess whether it is possible to work together.
Is the initial consultation really free of charge?
Yes, of course, we will ask you a few questions and then tell you what services we can offer you.
What distinguishes your trustee service from a normal domain registration with a registrar?
With a normal domain registration at a registrar you have to take care of the obligatory part yourself. With us, you enjoy a complete service that covers pretty much all the areas that are usually time-consuming and cause unnecessary, recurring effort.
Do I have to register the domain myself?
No. We take care of domain registration and management for you. We maintain partnerships with official domain registrars and can register a domain for you quickly and at the best prices.
Who is shown in Whois as the domain owner and administrator?
As trustee and for the protection of your personal data, we register ourselves as domain owner and technical administrator. You authorize us as your legal representative to fully manage your domain. However, you own all rights to the domain at all times and will be involved in all domain-related decisions and decide how we should ultimately proceed.
Can I manage the administration of a domain myself?
Yes, you can register as the owner and administrator of a domain. This process is called a change of owner in professional circles and is free of charge with us. If you want to switch to another domain registrar when you change the owner, you have to pay the annual registration fee for the domain to the new registrar in order to move it.
How can I ensure that I am and remain the owner of the domain?
Our terms and conditions state that we only take the representative position. Even if we are registered as the owner with the registry, you are the one who owns the domain and who has to make all decisions about the handling of the domain. We are not authorized or obligated to make important domain decisions for you and require your written consent to do so.
How does Whois protection work?
For each domain, at least the contact details of the domain owner must be provided. This data is often fully visible in a Whois query for the domain. To ensure data protection, we register ourselves as the owner of the domain and forward all queries directed to the website or domain operator to the corresponding customer. We assume a kind of proxy function for the legitimate domain owner.
Can I register a domain somewhere else and only use Whois privacy?
No, this is not possible. We need full control over the domain so that we can successfully pass the checks of the registries and to be able to protect the domain. In addition, in this case manual work on your part would be required again and again, which would make our service cumbersome for you.
Do I need my own web hoster?
We are only specialized in domain registration and management. You need a technical partner (web hoster) to operate your domain on the Internet. We can recommend reliable web hosting partners as well as offer our own low-cost web hosting services if you should decide for a complete service.
How much does the web hosting cost?
If you wish, we can provide you with a professional and fast web hosting for the start without additional costs. Should your project grow bigger and reach high traffic, the free web hosting will be changed into a paid one and will cost from 4,95 Euro per month.
Can I run a large website with the web hosting?
The free basic web hosting, which is included with every domain registration, provides enough resources for a small online store. If you need more performance, you can switch to a paid plan with more resources or even book your own virtual server with fixed resources (CPU/RAM/Memory) for your website.
Do I need a trustee service for a .DE domain?
If you have a permanent residence in Germany, you basically do not need a trustee service, because you already fulfill all requirements for a successful .DE registration. The situation is different if you live outside of Germany. In this case you need a contact person with permanent residence in Germany, and here our trustee service can help you.
Do I have to give my address in the imprint?
Our services are only related to domain registration and management. Everything that happens on your website is your responsibility and outside our duties. Should your offer be directed to the German public, according to §5 Telemediengesetz an imprint with complete information about the provider (you) must be published on the website.
Can I specify a foreign address in the imprint?
If you live abroad and are addressing the German public with your website, you can specify the foreign address in the imprint. Please note that in this case you have to name a German contact person, for example a domain trustee service, in the imprint for a .DE domain, because DENIC requires a contact person based in Germany when registering the domain.
What does the domain trustee service cost?
The cost depends very much on the domain extension and the requirements for domain registration of the registries. We can give you a free quote, just contact us by phone or email. For .DE domains and for many other extensions our trustee service costs 49 Euro per year, plus domain registration fee and VAT.
How much does it cost to register a particular domain?
The domain prices can change at any time, therefore we do not publish the prices online. When signing a contract you will always find out the current domain price and additionally the annual fee we charge for our trustee service, which may vary depending on the domain extension.
Can I cancel the service at any time?
The contract can be terminated 14 days before the end of the contract period. After that you decide yourself what to do with the domain. The domain can be moved to another domain registrar or deleted. In both cases, your written consent by email, letter or fax is required.
How long is the contract period?
The contract period is equal to the duration of the domain registration. If you register the domain for 12 months, which is the normal case, the contract period is 12 months. However, we have a special rule that if the customer wants to switch to another registrar by moving the domain, we will terminate the contract immediately.
Can I pay for the service on a monthly basis?
No. You must pay the fee for each domain in advance for the entire contract period. So usually the fee has to be paid for 12 months in advance. We do not offer monthly payments or installments.
